Hey all,

Long time no see!  I haven't been very active on Deviant Art for probably well over a year now but I hope all of you wonderful artists and writers are living great lives and continuing to fill this world with your craft.  As much as I would like to keep submitting poems here, I've found that many publishers won't accept work that has been featured anywhere else, even on DA or a personal blog. Which brings me to the main topic of this journal entry-

Published poet and all-around great guy Austin Veldman has started his own online literary journal called Twyckenham Notes and is looking for wonderful poems to publish in its inaugural issue. I've met some damn good writers on DA and I think this is a great opportunity to have your work appreciated by serious poetry writers/readers. Moreover, if your work is accepted you can earn a couple bucks while also helping a fellow writer get the wheels rolling on his project. Sounds like a good deal to me!

Once again, please consider submitting poems to  Twyckenham Notes  (web link below)

Thank you all for reading and have a great weekend!

Writer Problems

2 min read
I've recently started looking for magazines to submit my poetry to.  I've been met by few obstacles but one is almost always reoccurring.  Magazines don't want to publish something that has appeared anywhere in print or online.  As you can imagine, this is quite an inconvenience to me because I usually post everything I write that I feel has any worth on DA.  A large chunk of my best work is in the book I self published as well.  This makes a years worth of work unusable to me and is fairly upsetting.  I'm assuming I could submit a piece after I remove it from my DA gallery but I really wish that wasn't the case.  Most of these magazines don't even want work you've submitted to your private blog.  I understand their reasoning but it's difficult to not share my work with all of you.  I value and appreciate your thoughts and feedback but I also want to make something out of my self as a professional writer.  I might have to start limiting my uploads on here if I can't find some lenient magazine.  If anybody has faced the same issue or has an opinion on this don't be shy.  Also, if anyone knows about any good magazines or online poetry websites that take submissions (and preferably are willing to pay)  let me know.

All my best,
John

Second DD

I was pleasantly surprised to wake up today and discover that I received another Daily Deviation, this time for a poetry piece.  The poem, Va'eira, is one of my personal favorites and it brings me great joy to see that so many other people enjoyed it as well.  I'd just like to thank all of you who support my writing and take the time to read and comment. I still have a long road ahead of me before I become a truly great writer but small victories like this help to keep me going.   Thank you all once again.

Listen...I have a Twitter account now.  I know... I'm a little behind the times, but I'm trying to stay "connected" and do the whole "networking thing". Plus, I really like the idea of having followers.  SO...if you have a Twitter account feel free to follow me here twitter.com/jotyleon

Also, if you haven't purchased a copy of my book, Beyond the Noose, you should seriously consider doing so.  It's a pretty decent collection of poetry if I do say so myself. And the proceeds go towards many respectable causes, such as: Funding my second book, buying college text books, beer runs, and large quantities of Ramen Noodles. You can find my book, Beyond the Noose, on the Apple Ibooks store and Barnes and Noble's Nook collection.  A paper back copy of this book is also available by following this link.  www.lulu.com/spotlight/jotyleo…

In conclusion, I would like to thank all of you for the encouragement and support through this crazy thing we call life.  Keep producing all of that excellent art work and poetry and photography and I'll try to keep it up too.

Best Regards,

John
